When is enough…enough?

I don’t know about you, but I have altitis. For those that play WoW you know this means that you got bored one day and decided to try a new class/race/side/etc. Or, perhaps your server was down for maintenance longer than expected and you just needed to do something (screw the dishes! it’s my day off and I am going to play WoW, damn you!) so you logged on to another server and created a new toon.

I fall into this trap every so often. Often times it’s that I just want some quiet while I’m leveling a toon so start a new one that isn’t in a guild.

The biggest problem I have with alts is that I spend entirely too much gold to fund them; armor, weapons, bags, etc. God-forbid I try to level an alt without the use of my sugar-daddy high level toon and all of his gold! I may have to *gasp* level like some new person trying the game out for the very first time.

Actually, that isn’t the biggest problem…

The biggest problem is times like now when I finally realize just how little time I have to play and I need to get rid of some alts. I don’t have the time to play them and I need to quit spending gold on them.

Just last night I deleted several toons. Sold everything I could, disenchanted everything I could, then dropped the bags in the mail to my banker along with the gold and useable items. Or, I did that and sent the stuff to a friend (I had an orphan Alliance that I had some gold on so wiped her out and sent everything to my friends orphan Alliance).

Maybe it’s spring cleaning? I enjoy that I can make up to 50 toons across as many servers, but do I really need to do that to myself? I have a few toons at/or above 70 and one that is really close (a 64 warrior that I now hate to play). How much do I whittle down? I still haven’t figured out where to draw the line on which toons to keep and which to delete. I’ve spent time on all my toons and at this point I’ve kept only the toons over 40 (and one 22 because I spent way too much time on the jewelcrafting leveling to delete it).

However, why keep them if I don’t play them and may never get around to playing them? I just have a hard time deleting them because of the time and work involved. Leveling up goes very fast now, but why start all the way over if I can just pick up where I left off with a lower level toon?

I probably won’t do that since I enjoy my lvl 70+ toons more and really don’t have time for any of the others….yet, there they sit… staring at me from the login screen…as if to say, “Why did you get me to this point and just drop me? Is that 80 Death Knight of yours so cool? What about that 42 Belf Rogue? What is so cool about her, anyway?” So, they’ll sit there because I just can’t bring myself to delete a few of them. Even that damn Warrior that I just hate playing now…mostly because it’s been a bitch to get his blacksmithing to its current level.

Anyway, that’s my reasoning…if there really was any.

I wonder how other people justify having so many different toons that just sit there and hardly ever get logged in…the most they get to do is stare out from the login screen wondering when, if ever, they’ll get to once again run around Azeroth.

WoW Guide(s)

So, a few months back I decided to write up a small “newbie” guide to help people get started playing WoW (World of Warcraft).  I posted the guides over on a site that I frequent (sluniverse.com) because I never intended to have my own personal blog.  Well, here I am with a blog and I figured I may as well steal those guides and put them here.  So, I’m going to steal them fair-and-square and get them moved over here.

I need something posted here.  It’s way too sparse looking for my tastes.  No, I can’t cut myself some slack considering that I just put this site together; it needs something and it needs it now.

You can find the guides by clicking on the ‘WoW Guide’ below or going here.

More randomness coming in the ensuing days ahead.  Please don’t hold your breath, though, as I do not want you looking like a Smurf.  That’s just weird.
